Eligible South Carolina families could receive $7,500 per child for CASF school tuition this year!
If you haven’t been keeping up on the school choice voucher program here in South Carolina, we received fantastic news last month that we wanted to be sure to share with you. The program has passed the house and senate, and Governor Henry McMaster signed the bill and it is now live!
What does that mean for you? For qualifying families, this program would provide $7,500 per student for families to use for their education, including private and catholic schools and does not require a student to have previously been enrolled in a public school to qualify (homeschoolers eligible). This is incredibly impactful to families and students and will allow them to choose the educational path that best suites their individual needs. This would include CASF! To put that in perspective, a qualifying family would receive $7,500 towards the $8,900 tuition at CASF...making a world-class Catholic and classical education available to them for $1,400 per year...amazing!
We realize that many of you have grown children, and this may not apply to your immediate family, however PLEASE share this information widely as getting the 10,000 scholarships awarded this year will ensure that the program grows in following years. This is available for K-12 programs so not just high schools for those who may have younger grandkids or children who are not yet ready to matriculate into CASF.
Here’s what families need to know for the 2025-2026 school year:
Applications open May 12 for children of active-duty military families
Applications open May 19 for all other eligible students
Scholarships are valued at $7,500 per student
Eligibility is income-based, for households earning up to 300% of the federal poverty level ($96,450 for a family of four)
There is no requirement for students to have attended a public school previously
10,000 scholarships will be available statewide
Palmetto Promise Institute and Wendy Damron have been a great advocates for this program and have pulled together great resources for families to better understand the program and take a quiz to see if you qualify. Please click this link to view your options.
